Hajj is one of the basic pillar of Islam. A test of temperament, tolerance, patience and sacrifice, also will power of a pilgrims as they have to spend about a month away from home including 5 days in camps instead of hotels. So there are the some conditions enforced by Islam to perform a Hajj. Following conditions must be fulfilled to be eligible for performing Hajj 2019.
Who Can Perform Hajj list are given below:
- Must Be A Muslim:
The first and foremost condition is that a person should be a Muslim. Non-Muslims are not allowed to go for Hajj as Allah says in the Holy Quran (summary of the meaning):
“And nothing prevents their contributions from being accepted from them except that they disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger” [Al-Tawbah 9:54]
- Insane Person:
Hajj is not for insane persons. Anyone who proved to be mentally ill is not eligible to perform Hajj as this law is in favor of insane people as The Prophet (P.B.U.H) said,
“There are three kinds of people who are not held responsible for their actions: The sleeping person until he wakes up, the child until he reaches the age of puberty, and the mentally ill until he becomes sane.” [Ad-Daarimi]
- Free Person:
Slaves are not liable to perform Hajj. The person should be free.
- Adult:
A person who attains the age of puberty is liable/ eligible to perform Hajj.
- Ability:
Ability defines that a person is not in debt or has taken a loan especially for Hajj, and he arranges all the basic need of Hajj journey and arrangements for himself as a dependent person. As Allah says in the Holy Quran (summary of meaning):
“And Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) to the House (Ka‘bah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, those who can afford the expenses (for one’s conveyance, provision and residence)” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:97]
- Women’s Hajj:
Women will be eligible for Hajj only if she travels with Mahram (Her husband, father, son, brother, nephew uncle etc.) as The Prophet (P.B.U.H) said,
“A man cannot be alone with a woman unless when she is in the company of a Dhu Mahram. A woman can travel only when she is accompanied by a Dhu Mahram.”
